Windstar 3000
The Windstar 3000 will be 75 feet wide and exceptionally competitive in lower wind speed locations (13-16 mph)
The model 3000 is similar to the Windstar 1500, but has twice the swept area, because its arms are twice as long (36 ft vs 18 ft). Its columns sit on the corners of an 80 foot wide square.
Because the Windstar 3000 has a large swept area to generator size ratio, it rapidly reaches 75 kW output and should achieve one of the best capacity factors in the industry. (See its expected power performance curve, below). When wind speeds exceed generation capacity, a torque limiter device will start operating such that the output remains steady at 75 kW without harming the transmission and generator. The Windstar 3000 is designed for lower wind speed locations (less than 16 mph average wind speeds) and flatter ground.
