PROTECTED FROM SEEING WIND FARMS AND STREAMLINES THE APPROVAL PROCESS
A state task force has drafted a road map that it says will make
Maine a major generator of wind power. It also identifies
important scenic areas - places such as Baxter State Park, Acadia
National Park and the Appalachian Trail - that would be protected
from the visual impacts of wind farms.

INTERSTATE POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY TO EXPAND WIND GENERATION
POTENTIAL IN IOWA
Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), a subsidiary of Alliant
Energy Corporation announced today that the company has acquired
a 300 megawatt wind power farm located in north central Iowa, near
Hampton, Iowa from Iowa Winds, LLC.

yesterday when the Ohio Supreme Court ruled that a referendum on

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission has ruled that a wind
developer must pay deposits to Idaho Power Co. if it wants its
five Magic Valley-area wind projects to connect with Idaho Power's
transmission grid

FERC APPROVES INCENTIVE RATES TO ACCOMMODATE RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) today granted Xcel
Energy Services, Inc.'s request for incentive transmission rates
as part of its plan for six transmission upgrades to meet state
renewable energy generation standards and serve increased power
demand in the Upper Midwest.

India's Suzlon Energy Ltd said its wholly-owned unit Suzlon Wing
Energy AS Denmark has won an order from Spanish savings bank
Unicaja for 102.9 megawatts of wind turbine capacity. The company
added that this order forms part of the order book position
declared Jan 29.

Spanish clean energy firm Iberdrola Renovables has announced that
its pipeline of new renewable energy projects at the end of 2007
totaled 42,053MW of capacity, almost 2.3 times more than the
18,431MW capacity accounted in 2006

Northwestern China's Gansu Province is expected to be the

IBERDROLA RENOVABLES TO ACQUIRE 1,600MW WIND POWER ASSETS IN ROMANIA
Spanish clean energy firm Iberdrola Renovables has signed a
contract with Eolica Dobrogea Schweiz, a company belonging to the
Swiss engineering group NEK and the Romanian firm Rokura, to
acquire a portfolio of approximately 50 wind projects totaling
around 1,600MW, located in the Dobrogea region of eastern Romania.

Suzlon Energy Ltd, India's largest wind-turbine maker, said
Australian unit Suzlon Energy Australia Pty Ltd has won an order
from Pacific Hydro Ltd, Australia, to supply 56.7 MW of wind
turbine capacity.

TRANSALTA ANNOUNCES BLUE TRAIL WIND POWER PROJECT IN SOUTHERN ALBERTA
TransAlta Corporation (TSX:TA) (NYSE:TAC) today announced plans to
design, build and operate a 66-megawatt (MW) wind power project in
southern Alberta. The capital cost of the project is estimated at
$115 million. Commercial operations are expected to commence in
the fourth quarter of 2009

EUROPE FALLING SHORT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY GOALS FOR 2010
Renewable energy seems to growing at break-neck pace throughout
the world, and particularly in Europe, but a new report shows the
European Union (EU) falling far short of its goal to use renewable
energy for 12% of its energy needs by the end of 2010.
