First step in USAF shift to alternative energy almost complete

The Air Force is completing what a senior service official the dubbed first step in a new initiative to host private alternative energy producers on its bases across the country. That step began when one of the largest photovoltaic energy plants on the continent began producing electricity on Oct. 12 at Nellis Air Force Base, NV, according to a senior Air Force energy official.

NORFOLK SOUTHERN UTILIZES WIND TO POWER WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT
IN OHIO
Norfolk Southern is erecting a 50 kilowatt wind turbine at its
Bellevue Yard in Ohio to power the yard's wastewater treatment
plant. Construction of the turbine is expected to begin in
November and be complete by the end of the year. This is one of
the first times wind has been used to provide power to a railroad
