that big business likes alternative energies, whatever the motivation.

ENERGY BILL PROMISES FAIR WIND FOR PROJECTS
Britain's burgeoning wind energy industry received a substantial
boost yesterday when the government gave the go-ahead for bigger
projects to be built outside territorial waters and promised
speedier planning inquiries.

The total installed wind power capacity in Canada today is less
than 200 MW and less than 3 MW in Ontario.

OHIO DEDICATES FIRST WIND FARM
Ohio’s first utility-scale wind farm went online November 6 at a municipally-owned site southwest of Bowling Green. It was developed by American Municipal Power (AMP)-Ohio. Green Mountain Energy Co. has contracted to purchase the green attributes (green tags) of the energy produced at the wind farm, thereby lowering the cost of the energy sold to participating communities.
The AMP-Ohio/Green Mountain Energy wind farm consists of two 1.8-MW wind turbines. The estimated combined output of the units will be 6.9 million kWh per year, providing enough power to supply approximately 780 homes. The turbines have 132-foot blades and sit on 257-foot towers

U.S. Corporate Renewable-Energy Purchase Breaks Records

ATLANTA, Ga., Nov. 25, 2003 - Corporate members of the World Resources
Institute's Green Power Market Development Group
<http://www.thegreenpowergroup.org> are buying renewable-energy certificates
in record amounts, the nonprofit reports. In the coming year Sterling
Planet, maker of Green America renewable-energy certificates, will provide a
total of 795 million kilowatt hours of RECs from national wind and bioenergy
resources -- comprising the largest purchase to date -- to selected Green
Power Group members, including Alcoa Inc., Delphi Corporation, DuPont,
Interface, Pitney Bowes, and Staples.
